VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION & SUPPORT
GAL VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION & SUPPORT
Every day, abused and neglected children in our community are removed from their homes and placed into foster care because their parents can not—or will not—take care of them. Guardian ad Litem volunteers advocate for these children in court. Each volunteer advocate is specially trained to be a powerful voice for the children’s best interests. They are ordinary people who do extraordinary. things for some of our community’s most vulnerable children.
A Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is appointed by the court to advocate for a child. Most of these children have been removed from their homes because of alleged abuse, abandonment or neglect. The GAL becomes familiar with the child and the child’s case and makes recommendations to the court to help ensure a safe, caring, stable and permanent environment.
